After running DialFree for the first time, whenever you start your computer you will find DialFree already running, but iconized in the system tray (as shown below).

DialFree detects connections made by other dialers, and shows the status and speed of these connections.  However, DialFree does not (in this version) calculate the cost of these connections in the phone bill.  Therefore, it is highly recommended that you always dial from DialFree to have accurate phone bill.

If you dial through a PBX, you can set the line-access prefix by selecting Dialing Properties from the Tools menu.

Closing the DialFree main window does not close the program.  Rather, this iconizes it in the system tray.

Some of the free-Internet numbers are valid only if you are calling from certain cities in Egypt.  A table showing the area coverage for each free-Internet number will be posted at the DialFree site.  If you have any question in this regard, please email it to:
support@net-eg.com.

The Connect button in DialFree's main window dials 07770007, which is the free-Internet number of the DialFree main sponsor.  In case you need to dial another number, select the number you want from Dial menu.

You can dial any arbitrary dialup number, even if it is not among the list of the free-Internet numbers, by selecting Custom Dial from the Tools menu.

If you have more than one modem installed, and you want DialFree to use a particular one of the modems to dialup, do the following:

  1. Open the Dial-up Networking Window (from the taskbar start > Programs > Accessories > Communications > Dial-up Networking).
If you have run DialFree at least once, you should find a dial-up entry named DialFreeGen.

  2. Right-click on the DialFreeGen icon, and select properties from the pop-up menu.  This will open up the entriy's properties dialog.

  3. In the General tab, select which modem to use in dial-up connections (under Connect using), then click the Ok button.
